🔥We are seeking individuals from the community who want to be on the Hazard Mitigation Committee to help with updating our Community Action Plan. No experience necessary!

🚒In April, Baneberry Fire Department Chief Russ Gawler gave a Firewise USA® presentation at the city commission meeting describing what the program does and how it benefits our community. To summarize the program, it is a statewide program administered through the Division of Forestry designed to reduce the risk of wildfires and promote wildfire resilience in communities.

🧯Members of this committee would collaborate with the city administration, the Fire Chief, and representatives from the Division of Forestry to present a plan to the state for approval. The bulk of the work has already been done; we are simply updating an existing plan from 2017.

📛Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to organize the Committee on Monday, August 18, at 7:00 pm if interested.

🧑🏽‍🚒Chief Gawler will be there to answer questions and provide an update as to the next steps.
