Donna Hernandez, Mayor
I was born in Florida and lived there for 33 years. I worked for 10 years as a respiratory therapist in critical care. I have been married for 30 years. My husband served 26 years in the US Navy. We lived in various locations on the east coast and 3 years in Spain. I volunteered with The Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society as well as the blood bank. After my husband retired we began our search for a place to put down roots and that search landed us here in Baneberry. We moved here in the summer of 2008 and have never looked back. We fell in love with the mountain views and of course, Douglas Lake! We have one son that currently resides in Brentwood.
I joined the Park and Rec Committee in 2014 and in 2016 I made the decision to run for a seat on our City Commission. I was elected and served as a commissioner for 2 years before being appointed as the Mayor of the City of Baneberry in 2018. I am the first female mayor in the history of Jefferson County. I have invested my time and energy in making Baneberry a great place to live while maintaining fiscal responsibility. I feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people from diverse backgrounds that are willing to work diligently to improve our community. As your mayor, I will always make every effort to be available by appointment or by phone.
